Well, after doing a bit of a look-and-seeing, it appears that the most popular micro-blogging system is Twitter.
I have signed up, and posted a few messages in it – and I have to admit, it does have features I find far more useful than Pownce.
Ok, Pownce is written in Adobe Air – but as a result of that it has a few limitations – the main one I find most annoying is that you can’t minimise it to the system tray. I can’t be having my valuable task bar real estate taken up by a whole application that would be far better as an icon in the system tray that attracts my attention only when necessary.
Twitter has a multitude of different posting and reading methods – via the twitter website, mobile phone (worldwide), third party applications, and widgets (all cross-platform for Windows, Mac, Linux, and the list goes on)
All in all, Twitter seems to be the most versatile of the two, and the more popular.
I seem to remember Leo Laporte mentioning once that he has connection between both Twitter an Pownce, and when he posts in one, it replicates in the other. I found a few posts through Google, but further investigation is needed :)
I’m interested to hear if anyone has tried both, and which they prefer – so SIGN UP and comment on this post ;)
