			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Ok &#8211; the 100Gb Hard Drive in my laptop died the other day.  Luckily I didnt have anything overly important on it, as it died badly.</p>
<p>I tried running spinrite on it, but even that was having drama, saying it was going to take a number of days to complete.</p>
<p>Because the drive is SATA, the only other laptop I have with a compatible drive is the MacBook, so took the 80Gb drive from that and put it in the laptop &#8211; re-installed Vista plus SP-1 &#8211; and everything is happy again.</p>
<p>I rang up the manufacturer of the laptop (I shan&#8217;t name name&#8217;s here) and was told that the 1 year warranty had expired&#8230;&#8230;10 days ago.</p>
<p>Isn&#8217;t it always the way, that the moment the warranty runs out on a product, is the moment it fails!</p>
